SCSI Disc Software Format Procedure ( Cold Start Procedure )

1. Place & Prepare the SCSI Disc into slot labelled 0400 in disc unit
2. Place & Prepare the SDT Tape into Magnetic Tape Unit
3. At the Operators CONSOLE Data Terminal

// CLE <cr>
// IPL=1000 <cr> —–> It will load the SDT Files from MTU :
System will responds with …………………
Memory Initialization Started ……………..Completed
Enter date and time :

FMT >
FMT > FORMAT DEVICE = DM400 VOLUME =5195.3 MAXRES=20000

It will report details to screen
Ensure no error massages

ENTER SYSTEM VOLUME CHANNEL AND SUB ADDRESS : 0400

VOL> CREATE D SYSTEM ENTR=10000

This will create the system directory of a suitable size which is required before beginning to restore from SDT tape.

VOL> RES restore first image

VOL> RES restore second image

Report RES until end of SDT tape

(REBOOT)

Login as SYSTEM on user terminal (NOT CONSOLE)
